Coreteel was founded in 2015 with a simple yet visionary idea: What if we could harness natural mechanisms to let metal protect itself, instead of relying on coatings? This question sparked a decade-long journey of research and discovery, drawing inspiration from nature, as well as innovations in pharmaceuticals, food, cosmetics, and readily available materials to develop this groundbreaking approach.
Our motivation
Corrosion takes a hidden toll – one we must not overlook.
Consider the Gulf of Mexico oil spill: in the same year Coreteel was founded, a critical failure in a rig’s steel blowout preventer led to an oil-soaked Gulf, killing 11 people and devastating the ecosystem in one of history’s worst environmental disasters. While a series of errors contributed to the tragedy, corrosion played a key role by weakening the metal component, an unseen flaw that fuels our relentless pursuit of better solutions. This is just one example of the significant damage caused by corrosion failures in critical infrastructure worldwide.
